How are we ensuring our services are carbon neutral?

Zeelo is committed to building a sustainable transport infrastructure and we have taken steps to ensure that all of our journeys are entirely carbon neutral. Here’s a quick look at how we achieve it:

• Measuring emissions: We track every mile and every vehicle to calculate the carbon footprint of all existing routes and services.

• Offsetting emissions: We partner with a leader in carbon credits provision, CNaught to mitigate the impact of every journey we run.

• Investing in sustainability: We fund and support 10 global offsetting projects like reforestation and renewable energy to support global carbon reduction efforts.

Digging deeper: how we are making it happen

1. We measure emissions We start by calculating the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by our transport services. This includes every mile traveled, fuel type used, and vehicle class involved. By keeping detailed records, we know exactly what needs to be offset.

2. We offset carbon emissions We partner with CNaught, a business that helps offset emissions by supporting verified carbon offsetting projects. Every single journey is covered, ensuring that no journey contributes to net emissions. In 2024, this approach allowed us to offset 7,834 tonnes of CO2e.

3. We invest in sustainability projects As part of our offsetting commitment, we take a proactive approach in funding impactful sustainability initiatives around the world, including:

• Landfill gas to electricity projects in Brazil and Turkey, which contribute to displacing dirty power in the electric grid.

• Large-scale avoided deforestation projects in Indonesia, which contributes to protecting and restoring 150,000 hectares of peatland ecosystems.

4. We encourage electric vehicle adoption To further reduce emissions at the source, we support our operator partner network in their transition to electric vehicles. Currently, 8% of Zeelo rides are powered by EVs, with a goal to expand this share as the EV market grows and consumer concerns are addressed.

5. We report on sustainability We provide detailed sustainability reporting to our clients, showcasing the positive environmental impact that their transportation programs can generate. These reports include datapoints like:

• Total emissions saved,
• Carbon offset data for specific routes,
• Equivalent savings like cars taken off the road, or trees planted

Push towards Net-zero emissions - While current carbon neutrality offsets emissions, we are looking to take a more aggressive approach to decarbonisation; with strategies in place to combat our overall carbon output.
