The service has removed over 45,500 car journeys, easing congestion around the school and enhancing air quality on campus and in the surrounding community. For every 100 riders who choose Zeelo’s sustainable transport alternative, carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by 403kg. This impact is even more critical in London, where students are four times more likely to attend school in areas where air pollution exceeds WHO safety limits.
Zeelo’s journey to net zero with Dwight School London began in 2022, when the school introduced its first all-electric route with a TCe12 50-seater electric coach. This year, the service expanded with two additional electric minibuses, now operating three fully electric home-to-school routes from Baker Street, Willesden, and Highbury & Islington. Beyond the daily commute, the school utilises these vehicles throughout the day for timetabled activities, including sports lessons and inter-campus shuttles.
Our partnership with Dwight School was designed to provide a service that prioritises accessibility for parents and students while also enhancing the school's sustainability credentials. By reducing congestion around the school and fostering independence for students through safe, monitored transport, the service has become an integral part of the Dwight experience; combining convenience, safety, and environmental responsibility.
The success of the partnership caught the attention of Catherine West, MP for Hornsey and Friern Barnet. During a recent visit to Dwight School, she met with students, educators, and Zeelo representatives to learn more about the service’s impact in reducing emissions and fostering climate awareness among young people. Reflecting on the initiative, she remarked:
“It’s inspiring to see young people and institutions like Dwight leading the charge for a greener future. Whether it’s using electric vehicles to get from A to B or embedding environmental awareness in the curriculum, these steps make a real difference.”
