Zeelo has taken the coveted title of Hottest Mobility Startup at the prestigious 2023 Europas Awards. The announcement was made during the illustrious event held in Lisbon on Monday 13th November, where Zeelo emerged victorious against formidable contenders EVware and #Leon Mobility (Xoo).
The Europas Awards, founded in 2009 by Mike Butcher, editor-at-large at TechCrunch, has been at the forefront of recognizing and celebrating Europe’s most ambitious and successful startups for 15 years. Zeelo now joins the ranks of past winners, including industry giants like Spotify, Wise (formerly Transferwise), Farfetch, Depop, and Starling Bank.
Zeelo's success reflects its commitment to revolutionising transportation by providing highly efficient, sustainable, and affordable mobility solutions. The company empowers bus operators, employers, and schools through software and managed services, optimising bus occupancy, reducing transportation costs, CO2 emissions, and administrative burdens. This award recognises the profound impact that Zeelo has had on the landscape of mobility in 2022 and looks ahead to the future of the company as we move into 2024.
Noteworthy Achievements in 2022:
"We are thrilled and honoured to be recognized as the Hottest Mobility Startup at the 2023 Europas Awards” says Zeelo CEO & Co-founder, Sam Ryan. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Zeelo team. We remain committed to our mission of transforming transportation by making it more efficient, sustainable, and accessible for everyone."
Sam Ryan and Barney Williams, recent recipients of the 2023 ACT 40 Under 40 Award, founded Zeelo with a shared goal of enhancing accessibility for underrepresented communities. In 2020, amid the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and global lockdowns, Zeelo identified a significant deficiency in public transportation. Today, Zeelo operates in both the UK and the US, transporting millions of riders to their workplaces or educational institutions each year. The company recently announced a $14 million Series A funding round to expedite its remarkable growth.
"Being acknowledged by The Europas is a significant milestone for Zeelo. It validates our vision of creating a positive impact on global transportation. We are grateful for the support of our partners, clients, and the entire Zeelo team. This award is a shared success, and we are more excited than ever before about the journey ahead”, Says Zeelo CCO & Co-founder, Barney Williams.
